Description

By popular demand, we're bringing Ask a Nonprofit Lawyer back for round two. Eric Gorovitz and Shirley McLaughlin, both principals at the nationally recognized law firm Adler & Colvin, are returning for another practical, accessible deep dive into the legal issues every organization should understand.


After a great turnout earlier this year, Eric and Shirley are back to unpack more of the most common (and commonly misunderstood) areas of nonprofit law, including:

  • Race-based grantmaking and how to structure equity-focused funding in compliance with federal and state rules
  • Privacy and data security requirements, and what nonprofits must do to protect donor and client information
  • Fundraising regulations, including solicitation rules, disclosures, and multi-state compliance
  • Advocacy and lobbying, what's allowed for 501(c)(3)s, and how to participate in public policy safely and effectively

Whether you're an executive director, board member, development professional, or simply navigating legal questions in your day-to-day work, this session will offer clear guidance, practical examples, and plenty of time for Q&A.
