These individuals bring energy and expertise, yet their involvement carries real legal risk. Misclassification claims, harassment allegations, and liability for injuries or misconduct can arise when roles are not clearly defined or properly supervised. 

Casey Williams, partner and Chair of the Nonprofit Profit Practice Group at Liebert Cassidy Whitmore, will join us for this webinar to explain the legal distinctions under California and federal law among volunteers, interns, employees, and contractors, including recent developments that affect how nonprofits structure these relationships. We will outline common pitfalls and practical tools to reduce exposure, such as waivers, training, background checks, and appropriate oversight.
